Description

The Laboratory for Machine Dynamics is dedicated to all aspects of the dynamics and vibrations of modern machinery and works closely with industry partners. It utilizes simulation and technical calculation methods, as well as state-of-the-art measurement technology in the fields of vibration analysis and tribology. The results of vibration analyses are typically used to design machines and components with regard to fatigue strength, imbalance, vibrations, and noise. This often involves relevant friction and wear (tribology), which can also be assessed and taken into account. Ultimately, the comfortable and ergonomic design of components is essential for human-machine interaction. Machine dynamics analysis methods provide crucial insights into this area. The Laboratory for Machine Dynamics has access to, among other things, cutting-edge measurement technology and various instruments for vibration analysis, such as the Polytec PSV-500 laser scanning vibration measurement system, various controlled shakers, the NV-Tech SAM automated modal hammer, and tribometers for friction and wear measurement. Furthermore, a comprehensive environment for technical simulations is available, including a high-performance GPU workstation, the Abaqus FEM software package with the Tosca optimization tool, Comsol multiphysics simulation software, and Matlab.
