GEA 50 L Stirred Tank Bioreactor (New Food & Biotech)

The GEA 50 L Bioreactor is part of the GEA Application and Technology Center which includes bioreactors to test microbial fermentation or animal and plant cell cultivation under controlled conditions. The versatile GEA 50 L bioreactor enables a broad operation range and highly flexible cultivation runs from simple batch and fed-batch processes to repeated batch and fed-batch and continuous processes. The system provides the possibility for both aerobic and anaerobic cultivations. The bioreactor system is supported by versatile media preparation and various downstream processing technologies as well as the respective lab infrastructure. The 50 L Bioreactor is typically used as seed reactor for the 500 L bioreactor. The bioreactor systems allow precise control of process parameters such as temperature aeration (air, oxygen, nitrogen, CO2) agitation (impeller speed, impeller geometry) pH value (acid, caustic, CO2) dissolved oxygen (through various parameters) feed strategies etc. Highlights of the 50 L bioreactor flexible multi-purpose skid for animal cell culture and microbial applications working volume of ~10-50 L fully aseptic industrial design test of customer-specific processes use as seed bioreactor for 500 L bioreactor Additional Up- and Downstream Equipment (sized for the 500 L bioreactor): 3x Mobile aseptic stainless steel media/storage vessels UHT plant (Ultra high temperature) Disc stack centrifuge, optionally decanter Homogenizer (up to 1500 bar) Ceramic microfiltration (0.1 µm) Polymeric Ultrafiltration (flexible cutoff) smaller filtration plants for MF, UF, NF, or RO Mobile Minor R&D Spray Dryer
