As a commercial company and as a research institution with a commercial project, you normally receive 50 percent of your eligible costs. As a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME), you can receive a bonus under certain conditions. To do so, you must meet the EU criteria for SMEs. As a university or non-university institution, you can receive up to 100 percent of your eligible expenses. If you are a university or university hospital planning a non-commercial research project, you can receive a project allowance of 20 percent in addition to your eligible expenses. The grant for Phase 1 is between EUR 1.8 million and EUR 2.8 million per consortium, with a maximum of EUR 1 million per German partner. The maximum grant for Phase 2 is EUR 500,000 for the German side.
Support for research projects to investigate the impacts of ecological crises on the Wadden Sea ecosystem, the conservation of the World Heritage and the socio-economic development of local and regional communities
Funding for individual projects and for consortia that include only German partners is excluded.
The scientific projects (Phase 1) must be designed for a maximum duration of four years. The coordination and transfer project (Phase 2) must be designed for a duration of up to three years and will end with the duration of the scientific projects in Phase 1.
Eligible applicants include commercial enterprises, universities, research institutions, municipal, state, and federal institutions, associations, and other social organizations. At the time of disbursement of a granted grant, the existence of a permanent establishment or branch (company) or other institution serving the non-commercial activity of the grant recipient (university, research institution, municipal, state, and federal institutions, as well as associations and other social organizations) in Germany is required.
