Every day, people around the world experience this: suddenly, they can no longer hear out of one ear. The causes of the colloquially known sudden hearing loss can often not be treated sufficiently because active ingredients from tablets or injections do not reach the inner ear efficiently. Against this still unresolved clinical problem, a research team at the Medical University of Hannover is developing an alternative therapy form: personalized implants release the active ingredients exactly where they are needed.
