ANNA BiologicsANNA Biologics aims to combine 'traditional' medicine i.e. plant based drugcandidates, with so called nano-carriers. Plant based drugcandidates are often hard to patent and therefore much of them will never be put to test in a clinical trial. Another issue is often poor cellular uptake and tissue targeting. By applying specific and patented nanocarriers, those plant based drugcandidates can or will suddenly become interesting. Interesting from both clinical and commercial aspects.

In Asia, it is becoming more and more common to investigate the combination of plant derived drugcandidates and nanocarriers.

Anna has a strong focus on developing anti-cancer and immunostimulating drugcandidates. Its main drugcandidate is a molecule derived from the, so called, solanaceae family of plants. The particular molecule has a very good safety profile, various scientific publications reveal strong anti-cancer mechanisms and even the ability to reverse chemo-resistance against 5-fluorouracil in some types of cancer.

In the field of immunostimulating drugs: ANNA has discovered a novel drugcandidate, with a good safety profile, that is aimed at T-cell stimulation. The current worldmarket for T-cell stimulating drugs - such as immune checkpoint inhibitors - is growing and may reach USD 60/70 billion within 5 years. ANNA has a focus on blocking the so called TIGIT protein.
