Challenge

Pig farming in Lower Saxony faces growing challenges in veterinary and production technical farm support. Shortages of skilled workers, increasing distances, rising costs, biosecurity requirements, and organizational restrictions make more intensive support for farms difficult. Advisory services on animal health, feeding, housing systems, or management decisions often cannot be implemented quickly enough to be preventive. At the same time, there are deficits in initial and further training, as real farm operations and health problems can only be conveyed in a limited practical manner.

Solution approach

The OG "StallView" pursues the goal of developing a digital training and consulting tool that enables a structured, data protection-compliant, and valid remote assessment of pig populations and can bring these into classrooms, training centers, and consulting situations in real-time. Digital applications serve as a supplement to on-site support and enable timely professional assessment, preliminary clarification, and follow-up between appointments. Virtual stable visits, training sessions, and collegial exchange can take place independently of location and health.
