Living Labs for testing prototypes in the healthcare sector

The Living Labs of the OFFIS Institute for Information Technology (Oldenburg) and the University of Oldenburg on the topic of health can be used by small and medium-sized companies to develop and test new technologies under realistic conditions or to record data sets for machine learning. Specifically, these are the following laboratories:

  •  IDEAAL : In a realistic living environment, the IDEAAL apartment integrates a variety of systems for Active Assisted Living. Whether bedroom, living room, bathroom or kitchen, all of the laboratory's equipment can be used and the rooms can be lived in.

  • The  intensive care laboratory LIFE  (Lab for Intensive Care Facility Experience) simulates a typical single-bed room in an intensive care unit with the specific conditions there, such as high staff workloads, shift work and high alarm loads.

  • The  care service center (PDZ)   is a two-part laboratory consisting of a realistic duty room in an intensive care unit or nursing home and a control center, as used in outpatient care by home emergency call services or the fire department's rescue control center.

  • The  care laboratory (CAReLab)  at the University of Oldenburg includes various measurement methods for analyzing and supporting the care work of older people in both outpatient and inpatient environments. Sensor-based measurement and analysis systems as well as smart home solutions (intelligent lighting, activity recognition, SensFloor) or equipment that can be operated via gesture and voice control are used to analyze the movements of caregivers via 3D sensors and to support and facilitate the everyday life of those in need of care.

Our team provides support in the design and implementation of studies with test subjects as well as in the preparation of the necessary data protection concepts and ethics applications.
