Matrix Evolution Symposium 2026

The  Matrix Evolution  consortium invites you to the second Matrix Evolution Symposium in Hannover. Together with colleagues from materials science, cell biology, biophysics, clinical research, and bioinformatics, we will discuss current developments, methodological innovations, and translational perspectives in the field of biomaterials.

In addition to our invited female speakers, we welcome submissions of poster abstracts on the following (non-exhaustive) topics:

  • Bioinspired and hierarchical biomaterials; stimuli-responsive and dynamic matrices

  • Mechanobiology, cell–matrix interactions, signal transduction

  • 3D models, organoids, tissue engineering, biofabrication

  • High-resolution imaging, (bio)physics, and matrix characterization

  • Computational modeling, simulation, AI/ML for biomaterials design and analysis or cell–matrix interactions

  • Preclinical and clinical applications, regeneration, implants, immunomodulation

The Matrix Evolution research consortium brings together six research groups from Leibniz University Hannover and Hannover Medical School. Together, we develop new, hierarchically structured, and dynamically responsive biomaterials. Our goal is to replicate the natural extracellular matrix (ECM) in architecture, mechanics, and biological function in order to more precisely control and better understand cellular processes in tissues.“
