Das Krümelmonster schlägt zu! Richtiger Umgang mit ungesunden Cockies + Dark Patterns bei DiGas
On June 16, 2023, the nationwide Digitaltag, from the Innovation Center Lower Saxony, the Digital Agency Lower Saxony would like to address an important and very present digital topic together with the state initiative Lower Saxony Generation-friendly everyday life (LINGA):
"The cookie monster strikes! From the right handling of unhealthy cookies and dark patterns in digital health applications."
We educate and discuss: Dealing with Coockies + DarkPatterns + different user behavior of old and young. What does this have to do with the cookie monster, age images and online marketing and online offers? We would like to give entertaining answers in 90 minutes. We set the focus this year exemplarily on the DiGas, in order to 1. sensitize developers/inside and offerers/inside for the different user behavior of old+young and 2. to clear up the users/inside, in order to diminish obstacles with the application.
We are pleased to welcome you personally and to introduce into the topic. This will be followed by three short keynote presentations:
"Cookies: can I eat them or will they go bad?" Cookies and Dark Patterns in the context of the GDPR simply explained.

"The dark side of technology - Dark Patterns"
Our smartphones are our faithful companions in everyday life and know us better than our best friend, because we permanently feed them with our secrets. We blindly trust technology because it makes our lives easier in a world that is becoming faster and more complex. At the same time, technology has become so complex that we can no longer understand what is really happening in the background. Many providers* exploit this ignorance and influence our behavior and decisions with the help of tricks: dark patterns.
Carina Wente | Senior UX / UI Designer | UXMA GmbH & Co. KG
At the end of an open dialogue you should have received answers to the following questions:
- What are cookies and why am I asked to agree to them every time I visit a website?
- What are Dark Patterns?
- Why is it important that I deal with these issues?
- What should I pay attention to in this context (especially in light of our long life society)?
- Are there cookies also in Digital Health Applications?
- What does all this have to do with the Cookie Monster?
